Why families choose MR Tutor

Families often want a tutor who can provide more than worksheets or generic revision.

They want someone who can build a relationship with their child, notice what is getting in the way, and adapt their teaching accordingly.

My teaching is shaped by experience in the classroom, tutoring and pastoral support. That means I care not only about academic progress, but also about confidence, engagement and the conditions that help a child learn well.

Frequently asked questions

Do you follow the national curriculum?

I can, where that suits the family and the child’s goals. I can also provide more tailored teaching that reflects the flexibility many home-educating families want.

Can you teach siblings together?

Yes, in some cases. It depends on ages, needs and whether a shared lesson would be genuinely useful for both children.

Do you offer group tuition for homeschool families?

Yes, small group teaching may be possible where the learners are a good fit and the setup is practical.

Can home-educated children get exam support?

Yes. I can support with core skills, exam preparation and confidence-building for learners working towards SATs, GCSEs or other next steps.

Home Education and Small Group Teaching

Flexible, supportive teaching for home-educated learners and small groups.

Every child learns differently. Home education allows families to build something more individual, more responsive and often more meaningful than a one-size-fits-all model. My role is to support that with high-quality teaching, clear structure and a calm, encouraging approach.

I work with home-educated learners in Felixstowe, Ipswich and online across the UK, and I also offer small group teaching where appropriate.

Tutoring for home-educated learners

Home education looks different from family to family. Some parents want structured lessons linked to the national curriculum. Others want help building confidence in specific subjects, preparing for tests or qualifications, or adding consistency to a child’s week.

I can support with:

  • regular English and maths teaching

  • targeted help with reading, writing or number skills

  • tailored lessons based on your child’s level and needs

  • confidence-building for learners who have found school difficult

  • structured support for children with additional needs

  • preparation for SATs, GCSEs or other next steps where relevant

My aim is not to force every learner into the same mould, but to provide teaching that is purposeful, adaptable and rooted in what will help that child most.

A good fit for different kinds of learners

Home education often works especially well for children who need a different pace, a calmer environment or a more personalised approach.

I have experience and training working with children who benefit from:

  • clear routines and expectations

  • smaller steps and repeated practice

  • low-pressure teaching

  • greater flexibility in how learning is delivered

  • patient support with confidence and emotional regulation

This includes experience and training supporting children with needs such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

Small group teaching

In addition to one-to-one tuition, I also offer teaching for small groups, where the group is well matched and the format suits the learners involved.

This may work well for:

  • siblings learning together

  • home education groups

  • friendship groups preparing for SATs or GCSEs

  • children who benefit from learning alongside others in a smaller, calmer setting

Small group teaching can offer a useful balance between individual attention and shared learning. It can also help children build confidence by discussing ideas, solving problems together and learning in a more social way.

How lessons can work

Depending on your needs, support can be offered:

  • one-to-one

  • in pairs

  • in small groups

  • in person in Felixstowe or Ipswich

  • online across the UK

Lessons can be designed around a specific curriculum goal, a longer-term plan, or a more flexible home education approach.

Fees

One-to-one tuition: £40 per hour

Group teaching can be discussed depending on group size, location and format.
